Regardless the
offer still stands, it has been a long time dream of mine
to seen some decent Loxatl on a tabletop somewhere and I'll gladly donate
some stuff to see it happen! That and I'm slowly getting
rid of some of the huge amount of unused GW stuff I have in my student
apartment, painful as it may be ;-) So if you need some old
warrior paws don't hesitate to send and email as I have about two dozen of
the old geezers just sitting around and those claws certainly
don't fit in with the current Nid vibe!

Cheers,

-Willem-Jan-

2009/8/25 Disqus <>

Re: Eyeballs, Skulls, and other Anatomy

Thanks! I am still working on the Loxatl, I just haven't been able to post because my laptop's power cable died while I was on vacation two weeks ago (plus, I was on vacation). Thankfully the new power cable arrives today. Those old Warrior paws look like they might work better than Genestealer arms... I got some arms in a trade with Col. Gravis, but I have yet to figure out if they'll work. Thank you for your generous offer, though - I'll be experimenting soon, so I'll let you know if these ones don't work.

Once my laptop is up and running again, I'll have some pics of my Hydra painted up, as well as some other stuff!

Re: Eyeballs, Skulls, and other Anatomy

Just found this blog and I have to say I am once more impressed by the amazing stuff there is to find on blogspot. Love the work on all the various masks, though my favorite is clearly the tank commander! Smart solution for the rivets as well.

If you're still looking for some genestealer arms I may be able to help you out. There's a big box of Nids bits sitting on my hobby table, so I can have a look. I have another suggestion for the (front) claw, the old nid warrior paw/claw: http://homepages.tig.com.au...

I should have several of those as well, just drop me a line and I'll do some digging!

Re: Eyeballs, Skulls, and other Anatomy

Wow, I love that Hydra, especially that nailed guardsman!

Re: Eyeballs, Skulls, and other Anatomy

Your Hydra shoot battlecannon shots? :D Looks great man! And thats a ton of skulls! :D
Mitch
http://ottawagamer.blogspot...

Re: Eyeballs, Skulls, and other Anatomy

Thanks! I use the "black, two dots of white" method. It can look a little cat-eyed, but the size is small enough that it's not too noticeable. I find that too often, the other method can make models look bug-eyed.

The skulls are perfectly sized for 28mm heroic. The quality is pretty good - I'll have some painted up this weekend - and each sprue has 4 human skulls and 2 sorta-human fanged kinda skulls. They kinda look like hybrid ork/human skulls. There are mold lines that are a bit tough to remove, but I doubt they'll be obvious once they're painted. I'd definitely recommend them over the expensive GW skull pack. Plus, they threw in two extra sprues for free!

Re: Eyeballs, Skulls, and other Anatomy

Oh man, I was hoping for a good update and you've exceeded my expectations!

The eyes look great. Do you use the black, with two dots of white, or the black oval, white oval, black dot method?

What's the size comparison for those skulls? I was thinking of ordering some to adorn my bastion but wanted to wait until you reviewed them.

The barbed wire is beautiful, as is the posing on the poor victim. The hydra commander's grotesk is your best yet. I love that nose!

If I could change anything it would be to reduce the diameter of the hydra barrels. Some smaller styrene tubes would be perfect.

Wow, I just noticed the two missing rivets you drilled out. Fantastic work. I'm impressed. That hydra looks top notch.
